Page Cart
The Cart page allows customers to review the products they’ve added to their cart, update quantities, apply discounts, and proceed to checkout.
Here are examples of how the Cart page appears on both desktop and mobile displays:

The Cart page provides full visibility of items added to the cart, allows quantity adjustments, and offers options to apply discounts or continue shopping. This page is crucial for both customer convenience and store conversion optimization.
Common Shopify Cart Page Functionality
The Cart summary displays all products currently in the cart, including product titles, selected variants such as size or color, prices, and product thumbnails. The Quantity selector lets customers change the number of units for each item, and the subtotal updates automatically. A Remove item button allows products to be deleted from the cart instantly, recalculating totals in real time. Cart notes (order notes) provide a text field for customers to add delivery instructions, gift messages, or other special requests. The Discount code input field enables customers to enter promotional or discount codes before checkout, though in some themes this feature appears only during the checkout process. The Subtotal section shows the current total value of all cart items before shipping and taxes. A Shipping and tax notice typically reminds customers that final charges will be calculated during checkout. The Checkout button is the primary call-to-action that directs customers to the secure Shopify Checkout page. A Continue shopping button allows customers to return to product or collection pages without losing their cart contents. Dynamic checkout buttons (Buy now) let customers skip the standard cart flow and pay directly using their preferred payment methods such as Shop Pay, PayPal, or Apple Pay. Some themes include upsell or cross-sell blocks, displaying related or recommended products to increase order value. A cart drawer or mini-cart may appear as a slide-out panel or popup that updates dynamically, allowing customers to view or edit their cart without leaving the current page. Inventory and availability messages inform shoppers about stock levels (for example, “Only 2 left in stock”) to create urgency. Finally, trust and security badges can be displayed near the checkout button to reassure customers of safe and secure payment processing.
